HOW WE DO BUSINESS

We have been selling books by mail-order since before the Internet became popular and we have developed a business style that pays dividends in reliability and customer satisfaction. Take your time browsing our collection. Register your shopping cart so it stays active when you sign-off. Place your order when you have accumulated sufficient goods to make the shipping costs reasonable (see Shipping). When we confirm your order, we will advise you of the actual shipping costs, taxes, etc.—and arrange payment with you. Feel free to consult with us with regard to any questions you might have. The most efficient way to do this is by using email.

OUR STOCK: We started out as enthusiastic collectors of ‘cultural software’—until we ran out of space and realized we couldn’t keep one of everything after all. We began to sell things, first at local flea markets and then on the internet, but we also continued to discover new sources of quality material...and so a business evolved. We are always shopping, and have a tendency to acquire books and music and movies that interest us or that we know will interest other discerning individuals. We also have access to large collections of material that we have not listed online (mass-market paperbacks, etc.), so feel free to send us your ‘want lists’. Be sure to include your email address, so we can let you know when we locate your items.

BOOK DESCRIPTIONS: Books come in all shapes and sizes. Most hardcover trade books (novels, etc.) are produced within a range of ‘standard’ sizes collectively referred to as 8 vo7¾” to 9¾” tall. We only describe in detail exceptions to this ‘standard’ sizing.

PRICING: With the exception of certain hard-to-find items and collectables we generally price our hard cover books and trade paperbacks at roughly one-third the contemporary list price. If the book is priced at $24.95, we list it at about $8.00 depending on the condition, etc. Other items are priced in similar fashion. Music CDs are generally $5-7.50, movies on VHS tapes are $5 and DVDs are $7.50. Music and movies are guaranteed to be in good condition. All of our business costs are included in these item prices—we do not ‘pad’ our shipping rates—so we don’t have room to offer further discounts.

PAYMENTS: All our prices are in Canadian dollars. Canadian orders are subject to appropriate taxes. If you live in the Maritime provinces whose names begin with “N” you will pay the 13% federal/provincial ‘harmonized’ sales tax. The rest of Canada pays 5% GST. Customers outside Canada pay in their local currency when using a credit card. We accept Visa and MasterCard and American Express and PayPal. We also accept checks and money orders if you are more comfortable with this—but contact us first to negotiate the converted price. Just let us know what is most convenient and we will try to accommodate you.

PROBLEMS: If you experience a problem with the quality of an item or with our service, please get in touch with us ASAP by email or fax or phone, but remember that we are in the Pacific Time Zone just like Seattle and Los Angeles—three hours behind New York and Toronto.9 a.m. on the East Coast is 6 a.m. out here. Time your calls accordingly.

PRIVACY POLICY: Our site uses an order form to detail information, products, and services. We request visitor's contact information (name, address, and email address) to ship orders; and financial information to arrange purchases of products. The contact information may be used to contact the customer as necessary. All information remains confidential. We do not sell nor share our customer information.
